Hey I'm Fate Blitz, crazy expert. I have a bunch of crazy friends and I'm proud of it. I love GACKT, duh since I started the Gackt lovers club. I'm into vampire (anita blake) and magic (Harry Potter). I love fanfiction...Snarry 4ever. I write on the anita blake site Pommedesang.com and love reading AB/HP crossovers. I love Wicked, 1776, Rent and Hairspray! I'm a musical junky. I am an artist all around I draw, sing and write. I'm looking into doing photography and getting a electric piano soon!
It has been my experience that humans as a race seem to over look the things that make life bearable. though I do love my friends some have to see what others are saying.
One of my good friends posted something in her journal that. To the say the very least raised a question.
Why,is it that if a person is not proud of achievements of another generation are they slandered and ridiculed?
I, as a American citizen have barely, if ever been proud of my country. I know if fact that most people say this is reference to the government and of course the man who is the public face of our country.
I have many a friend who despised the bush administration and were not proud of their country.
Of course people look at the "new Deal" set up by Roosevelt and say 'Wow, that was a great achievement in American history.'
But there is a word in there that makes all of the difference. 'History', as in past years of achievement.
But there is a difference. The achievements of the past will not solve or help the problems of the future. Storming the beaches of Normandy was a grand thing to be proud of. Nevertheless, most people think about what is going on in the country TODAY.
The pride people see in having President Obama is that the racial barrier that has blocked and wounded American society is slowly and surely coming down. With the swearing in of Obama people see the hope.
He has come into office at a poor time. A time where not many Americans have hope. Maybe Obama will pull out another version of the New Deal to help with the 10.6 Trillion dollar debt the country has gained. Or to stimulate the economy.
But those who ridicule others by say "SHUT UP about not being proud" must re-think their rude and unthoughtful words.
Those who do not look past themselves, and only see what they believe, are ignorant and self-serving.I have many opinions that I could fill a book with just on politics. If you believe that finally being proud to be an American is wrong then how about sitting down and listening. Before you go off and accuse others.
We are a very disliked country because we constantly gloat that we are better. And if the continuing intolerence to others feelings is how people respond to the hope of a not so dim future then I have one thing to say.
The human race is one thing. That is hopeful and spiteful and can only be one at once. So to say that others are not appreciating the USA's past accomplishments is frankly Bull-Shit. For what can we do about the past? Do you think American's before entering the world war II were proud of their country? Of their solitary confinement from the world? I doubt it.
Pride is not appreciating history and all of it's glories. It is pride in not only today but the future.
So again I ask, why,is it that if a person is not proud of achievements of another generation are they slandered and ridiculed?
